Peacefully surrounded by his family on July 5, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Bob Mullen in his 81st year. Beloved husband for 60 years to Audrey. Loving father of Catherine Newman (Lance), Lisa Lough (Ken), Bobbi Pakvis (Rob), and Mike Mullen (Tracey). Dear grandpa of Kirstin, Sammy, Kelsey, Brendan, Courtney, Lindsay, Ashley, Ryan and Megan. Great grandpa of Aubrey. Dear brother of 5 brothers and sisters and predeceased by three. Bob was Ancaster's Citizen of the Year in 2011. His extensive volunteer service dates back more than five decades. For 62 years, he has been a member of the Knights of Columbus, including a charter member of the St. Ann’s Council, formed in 1981. He is a past treasurer and financial coordinator of Lobsterfest. Bob has been an usher at St. Ann’s Ancaster parish for over 35 years. Bob played a key role with the Ancaster Community Food Drive Committee as the route coordinator for the past 17 years. Bob has been a member of the Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Board for 11 years. Bob and his wife Audrey volunteered at the McMaster University Medical Centre service desk. For ten years, Bob was the walk coordinator for Hamilton-Burlington-Brantford Walk for ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease). He has also been a member of the Optimist Club of Ancaster and volunteered with St. John’s Ambulance. Bob was president of a seniors bowling league. He has coached minor baseball rep teams and served with the United Way as a member of the capital fund task force and citizen review board. Bob was a finalist for Ancaster Citizen of the Year in 1997 and received a nomination for Hamilton Municipal Senior of the Year in 2008. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Sunday, July 9th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Ann’s Church, Ancaster on Monday, July 10th at 11am. Cremation to follow.
