Condolence From: Eleanor
Condolence: I remember john as being a really nice person. We met many years ago when we were young and beginning our lives in Canada. We were both stylists and compared notes on our daily interesting clients who not only came to us for great haircuts but trusted us enough to give us their problems which we always solved. Or at least we thought we did. Our clients became friends and john was a real gentleman ..he will be missed by all who knew him but mostly by his loving family. Rest in peace John

Condolence From: Rev.John C. Boyd
Condolence: My heart is so heavy at the passing of this wonderful man.
My sincere sympathies and condolences to John's family.
John was my friend and my "Wee Scottish Barber". Everyone to John was either "wee or big" as in Wee Johnny or Big Billy.
We met in 1975 when I went for a haircut at Cavalier Hair at Eastgate. I loved hearing his stories of his life in Scotland when he was young, his family, and his antics.
He so loved his family. John would talk endlessly about his kids, Miles and Megan, all the while bursting with pride!
I am one of literally hundreds who call John my friend and I am so very proud to be part of this group.
"John, after all these years you are still the finest gentleman I've yet to meet and call friend."
God of all consolation,
in your unending love and mercy
you turn the darkness of death
into the dawn of new life.

Show compassion to your people in their sorrow.
Be our refuge and our strength
to lift us from the darkness of grief
to the peace and light of your presence.

Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
by dying for us, conquered death
and by rising again, restored life.
May we then go forward eagerly to meet him,
and after our life on earth
be reunited with our brothers and sisters
where every tear will be wiped away.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, the Lord. - Amen. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Condolence From: JIM MANN
Condolence: I first met John when he was at Centre Barbers with Joe Hayer. That was back when you got a haircut every two weeks. My standing appointment was every other Thursday at 10A.M. (Ross Craig was at 10:30).
I enjoyed his stories about "football" but I had never seen the game played.

Goodbye friend,

Jim Mann

Condolence: Over 40 years John and I shared wonderful stories. Words now escape me so I look to Robbie Burns ,,,,,

"An honest man here lies at rest,
As e’er God with His image blest:
The friend of man, the friend of truth;
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so inform’d:
If there’s another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this."
Amen
