Obituary for Lorraine Frances Flynn

Flynn, Lorraine Frances

Spending fewer than 24 hours in the hospital at the end, our beloved Lorraine lived independently, even when younger hands were there to help. She gracefully accepted assistance when needed, but for the most part she preferred to give rather than receive. And give she did. To her very last day she enveloped us all with her beaming goodwill and her caring curiosity about every aspect of our lives. And that meant something, because she was capable of quick and penetrating judgements of character. More than anyone we knew, she had true faith in God’s presence. She prayed for us in all our struggles and triumphs, and now we are sending up our own prayers in hopes that she is as joyfully welcomed and loved in the Beyond as she loved and was loved throughout her vibrant life. She will be missed dearly by her nephews Larry O’Gorman (Linda) and Matt O’Gorman (Vivian Moens), great nephews and nieces Lucas, Gillis, Emily, Dillon, Leah, Shannon and Tristan. She was predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Frances Flynn(nee Creasy) and her adored nieces Shelagh O’Gorman and Louise Grant. Special thanks to the staff at the Atrium at Kew Beach, Toronto. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Monday April 2, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 19 Viewpoint Ave., Hamilton at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, where Lorraine volunteered for many years.
