Obituary for Daniel Leao Maloney

Maloney, Daniel Leao
January 23, 1949 – May 2, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, brother-in- law, uncle, cousin and friend at St. Peters Hospital in Hamilton. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Mary Maloney, brother’s James and Bernie, brother’s–in-law Chuck Fuller, Bill McDonald and Ed Joyce, nephews Larry Fuller, Rick Maloney, nieces Lynn Maloney, Dione Maloney and Cindy Davidson. Survived by siblings Len (Ann), Kay Fuller, Betty Joyce, Terry (New Zealand), Donna (Australia) and Debbie Dwulit (Don, Comox BC), sisters-in- law Carol and Fran (Steve). Dan was born in Hamilton, attended Cathedral, McMaster and Guelph, and worked at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (N.A.I.T) for 30 years. Dan loved life and lived to it to the fullest and spent his retirement years traveling the world; Mexico in the winter with his favourite destination being Ireland where he enjoyed staying at the birthplace of his mother in Innisrooke, Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh. Dan believed in giving back to the city. As a Football Hall of Fame Committee member, travelling the country with the Grey Cup. He volunteered to maintain a portion of the Bruce Trail and was a past President of the John Howard Society Board of Director, Hamilton and a committee member for the 2012 Cathedral High School. Special thanks to the care givers at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and St. Peter’s Hospital who helped to make his last days comfortable and to his many dear friends who were so very important in his life. As was Dan’s wish a family mass will be held on Saturday May 5, 10:30am at St. Patrick’s Church, 440 King St. E, Hamilton. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Knights of
Columbus Hall (222 Queenston Rd, Hamilton) on Sunday, May 13th, 2018
