Condolences

Condolence From: Don and Marilyn Byers
Condolence: Marilyn and I send our condolences to the family and friends who have lost a special person in Dan. We will remember him for his commitment to NAIT, his pride in his heritage, his loyalty to friends and his love of life. Always cool when under pressure, Dan was able to find the middle ground solution for problems others struggled with. We, like others, have many fond memories of the times Dan shared with us. Dan was known to have an appreciation for a fine drink, so he had our attention at a business conference when he was asked what his favorite beer was. Without missing a beat he answered; that would have to be my next one. His friends at Joe's, one of Dan's watering holes in Edmonton, toasted him with some of those next ones on Friday evening. We have little doubt the road that rose up to take Dan on his final journey passed through Ireland. Thanks for the memories Dan!

Condolence: Dan was a terrific friend all the years that we worked together at NAIT and after our retirements. Will remember our many golf and hockey trips over the years. I will always remember Dan for his integrity and his keen sense of humour. His courage in fighting the disease was inspirational. Dan will be sorely missed.

Condolence: Very sorry to hear about Dan. I met Dan in Edmonton when he worked for NAIT - I worked for the Province of Alberta. We forged many trade and apprenticeship partnerships. He was always open, honest and transparent and had a great sense of humour. I moved to Hamilton in 2000 and was shocked and surprised to hear from Dan after he moved back to his home community. Don't know how he found me or that he remembered my move here but nonetheless we managed to get together for lunch a few times and then for some reason we regrettably lost contact. He was always interested in finding ways to get involved in the city which I found admirable. My sympathies to the family. Sincerely Joe-Anne

I wish I could be there for your funeral and memorial but it is not to be. I hope you understand. I will be there in spirit. You were the best little brother anyone could have had. love, Donna
