Condolence From: (Deacon) Dileep Athaide
Condolence: My dear Renee, Chris, Jonathan and Raquel, Heartfelt condolences on the loss of your Mum. Sorry for the delay in sending this message but I have been out of town. Was with (cousin) Ann D’Cruz/D’Mello in London when I received the news of Mum’s passing. I have only the fondest of memories of your Mum! From her affectionate teasing of me as a child, to her ever-ready smile and genuine interest in my well-being whenever we’d meet - unfortunately not frequently with me living on the West Coast. Her engagement in social justice issues and in the interests of the Common Good were most commendable and inspirational. She was such a strong woman in enduring the early loss of your Dad and brother. I pray for the eternal rest of her soul, and for all of you and your families. Trust that you are all otherwise doing well. Come visit us in Vancouver, if ever the opportunity arises. With much love, and blessings. Dileep

Condolence From: Mark & Clarerose Mascarenhas
Condolence: Dear Renee, Chris, Jonathan, Raquel, and family, We offer you are deepest condolences on the loss of your loving mother, Joan. She was a wonderful woman of faith, and a dear friend to us, often including us in her dinner parties where we would enjoy her delicious food and partake of the hilarity and conviviality that pervaded the room, wherever she was. Her sense of civic duty, and her pursuit of knowledge about her community and how to improve it extended to a number of areas, from the ailing state of downtown, to the seniors care petition to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario that she spearheaded. Her founding and running of Friends in Grief, a non-profit that continues today in providing solace to those in need, has left an everlasting legacy. Modest as she was about her many accomplishments, she had a twinkle in her eye when she was reminded at her 80th birthday celebration that she was in the first batch of airline attendants for Air India when they went international with jet aircraft many years ago. Travel and experiencing other cultures was one of Joan’s passions and she fondly remembered places she lived in such as Switzerland, Kenya, Montreal, St Thomas, and finally Hamilton where she was for well over 35 years. She even had the tenacious courage in the autumn of her years to trek to Machu Pichu in Peru. What an inspiring example to all of us of a live well lived and she did all this while being a wife, a mother of five children, and a grandmother. May the Good Shepherd guide and protect you and comfort you in your time of grief and may her Soul Rest in Peace. Mark, Clarerose, Samantha, Tanya and Zach, and baby Liam.

Condolence From: Al and Edna Matthias
Condolence: Dear Renee and all the family, Edna and I are deeply saddened to hear the news of your mom's passing, another bright light has been turned off. We remember her and your dad very fondly, met them during our Kitchener days, through Pat and Daphne, and were happy to meet her again at Ivor and Pam's 70th birthday celebration, never thinking that it would be the last time! Joan was indeed a lovely person, jovial, kind and caring and will be sadly missed not only by you, her family, but also by all who knew her. We take comfort in the fact that she is now with the Lord in peace and free from all pain and suffering. We are sorry that we will not be able to come to the Visitation or the funeral Mass, because of previous commitments, but we will certainly keep her in our prayers. May her soul rest in eternal peace. Love Edna and Al.
