Lovering, Harry Paul

Died peacefully with his daughter and son-in-law by his side at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton, Ontario on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in his 87th year. Harry is survived by his beloved children Chris Comeau (Steve), Brian (Lindy) and David (Ann); his cherished grandchildren Natalie Zombeck (Jon), Matt Comeau (Sarah), Taylor (Anna), Shawn, Jesse; his special great-grandchild, Cole Zombeck. Predeceased by his sister Mary (Lovering) Young. Uncle of Martha Young (Anne). Harry attended Westdale Secondary School, where he played football and basketball and was a proud graduate of the University of Western (BA ’54), where he played football. He worked at Canada Life in Toronto and earned his F.L.M.I. degree in 1965. He was Assistant Treasurer at Goodyear Canada for many years and a dedicated parishioner, volunteer and Parish Council member at St. Charles Garnier Church, Hamilton. Harry founded the Hamilton Dystonia Support Group in 1994 and remained at the helm until 2015. He was also a past President of the Hamilton Parkinson Support Group. Harry participated in Meals on Wheels and Neighbour in Need in the Hamilton area and lastly was a benefits consultant through Harry Lovering & Associates. A special thanks to the Nursing and Resident staff on 4th Floor CTU Central at St. Joseph’s. Their care and compassion for the past 8 months was instrumental in allowing Harry to make his final journey on his terms and for that the family is eternally grateful. Thanks too, to Sheila Morin of the HNHB LHIN for her assistance and support. Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Homes, 7 East Avenue S., Hamilton, on Friday, June 29th from 7 – 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Garnier Church, 129 Hughson Street S., Hamilton on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington, with reception to follow on site. Donations to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, 305-121 Richmond Street W., Toronto, Ontario M5H 2K1 would be appreciated by Harry’s family.
