Obituary for Joan Patricia Reardon (Wade)

Reardon, Joan

With sadness, we announce the passing of Joan Patricia Reardon in the early hours of Tuesday, January 9th, 2018 at Park Avenue Manor in Burlington. We reflect with gratitude on her long and well-lived life and all that she gave as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law. Missing her already are her four sons- Paul(Karen), Michael(Anne), John (Roberta), Peter (Rhoda) and eight grandchildren, Sara (Justin), Katie (Joel), Rachel (Mark), Robert, Marc, Wade (Marilyn), Daniel, Benjamin as well as three great-grandchildren, Nolan, Abby and Audrey. She is reunited now with her best friend and husband, Jack Reardon, and brothers Maurice and Ron. Joan emigrated with her family from England at age 8; Hamilton and Burlington have been home since. Her family was her priority, but Joan also found time to work in a family physician’s office and support Jack in running Reardon’s Meat Market. Throughout her life she was active as a volunteer beginning with the Red Cross during the war years, and later in her community with the Catholic Women’s League as well as Information Burlington; Joan was also active with Probus. She and Jack were great travel companions and appreciated the opportunity they had to create memories from so many beautiful places in the world; but where Joan was most happy was sitting around the dining room table surrounded by her family. Visitation will take place at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 7 East Ave. S, on Thursday January 11, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9. Vigil prayers will be held at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 287 Plains Road E. will be celebrated on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders or a charity of your choice.
