Condolence From: Karyn Lumsden
Condolence: I would like to extend my prayers and my gratitude. Monsignor Peter was introduced to me a couple three decades ago when I was struggling terribly with a chronic and debilitating painful condition, felt without hope and was sorely lacking in faith. Although he did not know me, he offered to meet with me at the church on several occasions to pray with me and help me on my faith journey. The seeds he planted continue to thrive today and I remember him as a pivotal influence on my faith journey. He truly helped me get through some of the darkest days of my life. I was out of town on vacation when he passed and only learned the sad news when at church this past weekend. I am sorry to have missed his visitation and funeral. I will remember him in my prayers.

Condolence: Our prayers and condolences to the family of Fr Peter. We met Fr. Peter when we were single and it was always nice to socialize with his large group of friends. We were fortunate to have him marry us, baptize our 3 children and bless and counsel us over the years. His regular healing masses and his well attended Charismatic Conferences were always times of Spirit-lead praise and thanksgiving. His books and magazines articles are a constant source of strength and wisdom. He was a holy priest who preached the good news of the love of Our Lord and Saviour to all he encountered.

Condolence: Fr. Peter as so many affectionately called him by name will be dearly missed. I first met Fr. Peter while taking part in a Cor Weekend Retreat in Oakville and later served along side him at St. Charles Garnier Parish in Hamilton as a pastoral assistant. As a faithful friend and role model leading to my own call to the priesthood Fr. Peter was truly a man filled with the Holy Spirit. He fed us with the Bread of Life and the Word of God. My thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with Msgr Peter’s family and friends at this time.

Condolence: I first met Monsignor Peter at St. Michael’s parish in Oakville. I had just moved to the area from Ottawa and knew no one. Fr. Peter took me under his wing, introduced me to parishioners and became a lifelong friend, confessor and spiritual director. He had a great sense of humour, loved life, loved the Church and loved his God. He will be sorely missed. My condolences and prayers to his family, friends and parishioners. Rest In Peace!

Condolence: Well done good and faithful servant. Your name is written in the Book of Life. Psalm 23: The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need. 2. He lets me rest in green meadows; HE leads me beside peaceful streams. 3.HE renews my strength. HE guides me along right paths, Bringing Honour to HIS Name. 4.Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, For YOU are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. 5.You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. YOU honour me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings 6. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, And I will live in the house of the Lord FOREVER.”

Condolence From: Abigail Ruta
Condolence: I am so incredibly sorry for the indescribable loss Father Peter Coughlin's family has had to feel. I believe that it is not just his family, because he made even friends feel like family. So many lives were so deeply impacted by Father's presence which lead us to the blessed life we live today. In our now so sacred life we get to continue on for him, we now understand that Father Coughlin was the greatest gift from God that was shared with so many. If I truly look back on my life with Father Coughlin; I never understood how important Father Coughlin was to me until we all had to say goodbye, for now. I love you, and every memory just reminds me of how deeply important you are to me in everything I do. Rest in Peace to the greatest best friend, priest, and gift from God that anyone could ever ask for. I love you Father Coughlin and everyday I will miss you more and never forget everything you allowed me to do and learn with you. You’ll forever be with me. You will always be the best role model a girl could look up too for the last 16 years. I hope you had everything you ever wanted and accomplished everything that you could have. Newly Monsignor, you worked so hard and fought all your life to get where you were to this very day. All I ever want you to know is that I could not admire or thank you enough for every word, glance, or action you have given to me and filled my life so fully with joy and understanding. Heaven just gained a saint and they could not be luckier. Monsignor Peter B. Coughlin is the best human being God could have created and He put him in our lives so that he could make such an amazing difference to my life and the thousands he touched in his. I never want to serve another mass without you, but I guess, lucky for me, you showed me everything I need to know and that even though I can’t serve at your mass, I will serve every chance I get for others so that I can honour the amazing priest that made me who I am today. I will never stop wanting to do right by you. Because there was nothing you would not do for me. Love you always and forever Father, Abigail, your favourite altar server.
