Obituary for Darryl Martin Browne

Browne, Darryl Martin
After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Darryl was called home by God on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 28th in his 62nd year. Surrounded by his loving family, he will be sadly missed by his beautiful bride of 26 years, Joanne. Predeceased by his parents Mary and William Browne, Darryl will be deeply missed by brothers Keith and Ken (Priscilla), sister Maureen, brothers-in-law Gene and Wally Kusy, sisters-in-law Dianne Kunkel (Rick) and Betty Grant (Gary). He will be fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his many friends and colleagues.

A longstanding member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Darryl loved the outdoors. An avid gardener and woodworker, he enjoyed working with his hands and always kept busy playing golf in the summer and basketball in the winter. Another passion of his was music, either going to concerts, or holding his own while on road trips with Joanne.

Darryl graduated with honours from Mohawk College and went on to a successful 35 year career, eventually landing at Metrolinx as Senior VP, a position he truly loved.

Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Avenue on Wednesday May 1st from 7 to 9pm and Thursday May 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9pm with a Rosary at 8pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 416 Mohawk Rd East on Friday May 3rd at 1pm with burial to follow at Our Lady of Angels. Donations to the Ronald McDonald House or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Darryl, you were larger than life. We’ll miss your humour, your compassion and your generosity. You were our rock, our role model and will forever be in our hearts.
