Theresa “Tessie” Tabone
November 4, 1934 - May 19, 2019
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Theresa “Tessie” Tabone at St. Peter’s Hospital in her 85th year. Tessie’s passing is preceded by her husband of over 50 years, Frank Tabone. She is survived by her 2 children, Pauline Miskas (Bill) and Mike Tabone (Karen) as well as her grandchildren Steven Miskas, Mike Miskas (Paula), Tracey Zimmer (Mark) and Christopher Tabone (Gillian). Tessie is also survived by her brothers Mario Stivala (Polly) and Joe Stivala (Carmen) as well as sisters, Gola Mallan (Joe) and Mary Mamo (Charlie, deceased) in Malta. She was also Great Grandmother to Salvatore, Luka, Bria and Ehva as well as “baby” Tabone, who is on the way. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Malta. Tessie married Frank Tabone in Malta in 1951 and together they emigrated to start a new life in Canada. The adjustment at first was difficult for her being so far away from her family at a very young age, but she persisted and life got better once they were established. Their combined work ethic and love for each other yielded a very fulfilling life in their new country and these same values have been passed down from generation to generation. Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Your job on earth is done mom. You can now rest in peace with dad. Love, your family. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (796 Upper Gage Ave., Hamilton) on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 9-10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Parish (Our Lady of Lourdes site, 416 Mohawk Rd. E.) on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
