Suddenly after a brief illness, we announce with great sadness, the passing of Joseph Harris Leslie in his 96th year. Dear husband of the late Evelyn Horner (2016). Survived by his children, David (Karen), Donald (Cara) and Brenda McNeil (Gord). Also survived by 6 grandchildren, Monica Booth (Chris), Alex (Vanessa), Steven (Alana), Laura, Andrew and Brent. Predeceased by grandson Callum (2019). Also survived by Great Grandson Michael Booth who will miss playing with Grandpapa and his trains. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family across Canada and the US. Predeceased by his parents, Perry and Joyce, sisters Verna and Kathleen and brothers Sidney and Willard. Joe was born in Liverpool Nova Scotia on April 15, 1924. A veteran of WWII, serving in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, Joe relocated to Hamilton after the war. After a 38yr career at Dofasco, he enjoyed a 35-year retirement, which included many great games of golf, evenings at the bowling alley, fishing, many trips to Hawaii, Mexico and the UK.
A wonderful father, dad kept us entertained with his dry sense of humour and a twinkle in his eyes, telling stories of the antics of himself and his siblings on the farm in rural Eagle Head, Nova Scotia and fishing the north Atlantic. He never missed an episode of Deadliest Catch! He was loved by all who met him. A truly good man and we shall forever miss him.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Thursday, August 15th from 3-5pm & 7-9pm. There will be no funeral service. A private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. On-line condolences can be made to

Joe worked in the crane crew at Dofasco which I had the opportunity to work for him as an apprentice in 1972/1973. He was a knowledgeable tradesmen and great mentor; he took the time to ensure you worked safely and learned by your mistakes. Many years later I moved into Utilities as a supervisor and had the luxury again to work with Joe son Dave Leslie. You can see that Dave picked up the same passion as Joe in the trade, Joe would be proud of him and his family. My condolences to the Leslie family and Joe is looking down from above watching and guiding his family.

worked for Joe in the mid seventies when i first started at Dofasco, he was a great person to work for , i was a green apprentice & he taught me a lot . So glad to hear he had a long retirement . Condolences to the family, am sure he will be missed and remembered fondly !
