Passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at the age of 70. Beloved husband of Bette for 48 years. Proud father of Aaron (Laura) and Adam (Deanna). Loving grandfather of Claire and Kara. Brother of Jackie McDonald, Carolyn Henderson (Bill), Lorraine Harvey (Larry). Brother-in-law of Mary Vaina and Leona Murray. Uncle of Richard, Kerry, Christine, David, Tara, Crystal, Jason, Jennifer and their families. Predeceased by parents Florence and Lyman, parents-in-law Ona and Jonas Vaina, brother Mike and brother-in-law Ian McDonald. Brian retired from Stelco after dedicating 37 years to the company. The family wishes to thank Dr. Dan Carter and his palliative team of Tamara and Suzanne, the nurses on F4 at Juravinski Hospital and the nurses and staff at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for their love and compassion. A celebration of Brian’s life will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 2-4 pm. Donations can be made to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. My condolences to Butch’s family.
We grew up as neighbors and friends in Hamilton’s east end. I have wonderful memories of long hot summers, where we would go swimming in the Burlington Canal(which of course, our parents didn’t know about), visiting nearby orchards to borrow fruit, sleeping out in home made tents, and just being kids.
I have lived in Alberta for over forty years, so I have not been in touch, but will always remember Butch as a good, kind and gentle friend.
Terry Williams

I will always remember Butch, making up stories from his fertile imagination, and holding us spellbound for seemingly hours. We had so much fun.

This is very sad news. Butch was a good friend when we went to Glendale H.S. and played all night poker games with all his friends from the survey in Roxbury Park. It is times like this when one wonders why we did not keep in touch with all our friends from the survey. I always enjoyed Butch’s friendship and great personality. He was liked by everyone who knew him and always had a smile. He will be missed but will always be remembered. George Baillie.

Brian was a wonderful friend and coworker. I have known him for over 37 years. We shared many good times at work, at bowling and on the golf course. I will miss him dearly. Our deepest condolences to Bette and family. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
