Fritz, Kenneth James (Ken)

Peacefully surrounded by his family on January 19, 2020, at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, Ken Fritz passed away in his 72nd year. Beloved husband for 54 years to Josephine (nee Lenko). Loving father of Dave & Janet (Kompare-Fritz). Dear Grandpa of Desmond and Emmett. Dear brother of Bonnie Fritz and Norma Jean Watson-Augustine. Survived by all the members of the Fritz, Watson and Lenko families as well as his buddy Brett Whitmore. Predeceased by his sister Brenda Davis. Ken was a long-time employee of Dofasco with over 30 years of service. An avid Horseman, Ken was the proud co-owner of Touch the Past Horse-drawn Carriages. He will be lovingly missed by his furry friends Doc, Thumper, Dallas, Molson and especially by his dog Benny. He leaves behind many friends at Cameron’s Speedway where he recently worked. A special thank you to his longtime friend Glenda McMann for being his caregiver throughout his illness. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage AVe. on Friday, January 24th from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, January 25th at 11 am. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Many thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at the Juravinski Hospital, the HNAB LHIN and the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for the care and compassion they showed to Ken. Online condolences can be made at

You will not know myself or my family...but let me just say that we had one of our most memorable family memories with this lovely man. When Tammy's restaurant (in Dundas) used to hire the horse drawn rides during the Christmas season, we used to watch with our young daughter through our front window on the nights they passed down our street. One night, the wagon stopped in front of our house and our daughter ran out of the house, down the drive in her candy cane stripped nightie - no shoes. She quickly hopped up on "Santa's knee" and had a chat. If that wasn't special enough....the next week we had a knock on the door and it was Santa....with a pair of hand knit slippers for the little girl who ran down the driveway. She still has them and puts them out every Christmas. I am tearing up right now writing this. Such a special memory for all of us. We will always remember and cherish our special Santa. With much love to all......"Take Comfort in your Loving Memories"

Dear Jo, Dave and Janet. I am so very sorry to hear that Ken has passed away. I pray that you will have courage to carry on. I send my deepest sympathy to you. I am unable to come on Friday and Saturday due to family commitments and organ playing at CTK.
We haven't seen each other for so long and hopefully there will be an opportunity in 2020.
God bless, Rob
