Obituary for Catherine Elizabeth Binns (Burns)

Binns, Catherine Elizabeth (Burns)
August 19, 1933 – April 29, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Catherine (Kaye) on April 29, 2020 in her 87th year, surrounded by the love of her family at home.
In their 65th year of marriage, she will be dearly missed by her beloved husband and soulmate Jim. Catherine and Jim met at the dance club, The Royal Alexander in Hamilton. They fell in love and the rest is history!
Catherine was dearly loved by her children Sharon (Bill), Sandra (Daniel), Sheila (Brian) and Andrea. The sparkle in her eye was for her grandchildren Krista (Murray), Nicole (James), Gregory, Nathan, Zachary (Angelica), Steven, David and Hannah. She was so proud of their accomplishments, especially in education.
Born in Sunny Corner, New Brunswick, Catherine was predeceased by her parents Eliza and Clarence Burns as well as her siblings Henry, John Lewis, Vincent, Theresa, Carmel, Daniel, Anna and John Frederick. Catherine will be missed by her sisters Margaret, Bella, Rita, Patricia (Patsy), Arlene, Jacqueline and her brother Clarence Junior. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Catherine (Kaye) was a proud, traditional homemaker who was passionate about her family, faith and education. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and loyal friend. She had a keen intelligence and inquisitiveness and epitomized the term “life long learner”. While Catherine and Jim were raising a growing family, Catherine was a well known and respected Bridal Consultant at the Right House.
Memorable family moments are trips down east, travelling, camping adventures and family milestones including birthdays, faith celebrations and sporting events.
Due to COVID-19 health regulations, a private family service with interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Catholic Children’s Aid would be appreciated by the family. A memorial mass and celebration of life will be held at a future date. Arrangements with P.X. Dermody Funeral Homes. Online condolences can be made to www.dermodys.com
