With saddened hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Maureen (Moe) Elizabeth Williams, 59, on May 18, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a long battle with kidney disease. Born on November 21, 1960, Maureen is survived by her life partner Rory Smith, her son Matthew, her father Bill Williams and her three sisters Mary Anne, Pat McLaughlin (Anthony) and Christine Lanigan (Derrick). She is predeceased by her mother, Theresa, and will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as “fun-loving Aunty Moe”. Maureen’s dedication to her job and her family was unparalleled. Passionate about healthcare, Maureen worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the educational services department for 37 years. Known for her tenacious personality, compassionate spirit and infectious smile, Maureen always put the needs of others before herself. She possessed the uncanny ability to accept people for their weaknesses and elevate those around her through unconditional love and support. A special thanks to the staff at the St. Joseph’s hemodialysis department for their continuous care and compassion. Cremation has taken place, with a memorial to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the dialysis unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

My deepest condolences to Maureen's friends and family. Maureen was truly a member of the St. Joe's family. I had the pleasure to work with Maureen professionally and later when she was an advisor in the development of the new dialysis unit at St. Joe's. She always put others ahead of herself and was willing to help in whatever way possible. When ever I talked with her in the hallways she always had a smile, regardless of how she felt and what she was going through. We will really miss her.

I remember so fondly how Maureen helped all of us in the education department at St. Joe’s. With all respect to my former colleagues at the Charlton campus, I do think she thought of the West 5th campus as her true home office. I remember her laugh and her ability to help see the humour and the hope in so many different situations. I also remember how much family and friends meant to her. My sincere condolences and best wishes to her family.

Sending deepest sympathies to Maureen's families and friends. Maureen was a delightful person and will be missed by all. I worked in the education department with Maureen and she always welcomed everyone with open arms. She went out of her way to make sure we were all looked after and in turn, we looked out for her. She enjoyed chatting with everyone and was genuinely interested in what was going on in our daily lives and shared with us snippets of her life. She was like family. I shared an office with her for a bit and we'd chat all the time and had some great laughs--and she had an infectious laugh! I would see her quite often when she came in for dialysis after she retired and I always enjoyed getting caught up with her. She took pride in her appearance and always showed up looking polished, even when she wasn't feeling the greatest. She truly loved her work and her home family. I feel privileged to have known her. My heart breaks for her family and friends.
