Obituary for Rose Marie Rotar (Barske )

Rose Marie Rotar (nee Barske) passed away at CAMA Woodlands peacefully at the age of 99. Born in Whitemouth, Manitoba. She married William (Bill) August. Lovingly remembered by sister Agnes Filinski (Barske) of Hamilton, Ontario. Survived by her three daughters: Elaine Herod (Denis), Constance (Connie) Barrett and Valerie Parker (Bruce). Grandchildren: Glenn Herod (Sandi), Craig Herod (Tracy), Kimberley (Barrett), Cory (Barrett), Clint, (Barrett) Colin Parker (Alyson) and Victoria Parker. Great Grandchildren: Aaron, Adam, Olivia, Ryan and Quinn (Herods) Jessica, Alycia, Sophie, James, Annabelle, Patrick (Barretts). Rose is predeceased by her parents, Stephania Barske (Zommer) and Michael Barske. Also by her son Myron Wilfred August. Sisters, Mary, Stephanie, Bernice, brothers, Frank, William (Bill) and Paul (WWII).

Rose left the family farm at age 15 to pursue an adventurous life in Ontario, British Columbia and California. In 1942 she married William (Bill) August and they had two daughters and a son; Elaine, Constance (Connie) and Myron Wilfred. She later married Colin Rotar and she had a daughter Valerie.

Rose was devoted to her family. Mom's strong will, her Faith and determination always sustained her. She was an amazing homemaker, enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved to sing , dance, playing cards and other social activities; plus the occasional trip to the racetrack or casino. She was employed at the John Inglis Plant in Toronto (during WWII), the T. Eaton Co. owned and operated a small restaurant in California. Later in Ontario Rose continued in commercial promotions for Knob Hill Farms.

We thank Dr. Brendan Chiu for his care for our Mom. We wish to extend a special thank you to Pat Cervoni and all of her amazing staff at CAMA Woodlands (Evergreen) esp. Darlene, Leah, Debbie, Mike, Linda and many others for the personal and loving care that Mom received during her 13 year residency.
